SCIENCE

” The art and science of asking questions is the source of all knowledge.”  [Thomas Berger]

Here at Ball Green Primary we aim to deliver a high-quality science education that provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity: all pupils will be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.

Children experience careers in science and the diverse ways these help us and change the lives of those around them for the better. Trips and visits provide a unique opportunity for the children to interact with local scientists and broaden their horizons. A strong partnership with a local school network and Science Across The City provides a platform for collaborative thought to enrich the curriculum for all children at Ball Green Primary.

Children are inspired by organisations that come into school to deepen children’s knowledge of the world around them. This has included: rock and moon samples from space, Alan Aimes the bird man where the children experienced an eagle flying in the hall and powerful microscopes from the Royal Society of Chemistry giving the children a new perspective on life.

Through the building up a body of key foundational vocabulary, knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.
